“Both AT&T and Ignite MindShift are about closing the gap between those that have and those who
don’t and that disparity can begin before birth or occur at any point in one’s life. AT&T’s focus on the
digital divide brings connectivity to more people who haven’t had access … largely black, brown and
other underserved communities. Ignite MindShift serves the same population and uses connectivity as a
teaching tool to empower teens with the mindset and skills to prepare them for the future and greater
possibilities.
Intentionally exposing students to successful leaders, particularly ones who look like them and came
from similar or relatable backgrounds inspires and encourages students in a meaningful way.
Senior Day at North Dallas HS was memorable … black, brown, Caucasian speakers talking about issues
of LGBTQ+, drugs, jail, low income, family disconnect AND standing in testimony that regardless of
where you began you could become something bigger than your dreams ever were … that was a
blessing to witness. “
